Unreal expectations: just go and maybe see if I can find something good. The real outcome: John Updike, Tennessee Williams, Alberto Pimenta, JP Simões & André Carrilho, more John Updike, Enrique Vila-Matas and André Malraux. Oh, and some more Rudyard Kipling, Henry James, José Luís Peixoto and Selma Lagerlöf. Damn, I don't even know which one do I read first.

Harper Lee's 1964 rare interview

(retirada, tal como o texto, do artigo publicado no site The Reading Room) Harper Lee , the author  To Kill a Mockingbird  and  Go Set a Watchman , was famous for her reclusive nature. But before withdrawing entirely from media attention in the mid-60s, Lee gave a rare interview for WQXR, a New York radio station. Now, that interview is available to the public through UCLA. UCLA’s archive doesn’t allow us to embed the interview, but you can listen to it right now by clicking on  this link . In the 11-minute interview with Roy Newquist, Harper Lee discusses her surprise at the success of   To Kill a Mockingbird   and hints at a new novel, which would never arrive (Lee’s only other novel, 2015's  Go Set a Watchman , was actually written before   To Kill a Mockingbird ). This interview is one of only a few ever given by Lee. It appears in print in Newquist’s autobiography, and the print version is available in various corners of the Internet. This audio version, however,

Lights

Walked home, after the dentist appointment. Listening to beautiful dancing tunes. Crossed the bridge over Gaia to Porto. Even under dark skies, the views are breathtaking!  Now, back in my cozy nest. New lights to warm my own heart on this cold evening.

A little bit better this monday

uma das coisas que sempre cantarolei desde miúda. lembro-me de cantar isto, na escola primária, nos fins de tarde, em cima dos telhados da faculdade de farmácia, durante os tempos da faculdade...e ainda hoje, quando me lembro.

5 Things to Know Before Dating the Girl Who is Perpetually Single (article from Expanded Consciousness site)

Sleeping time

Having just arrived from Kinnersley - safe and sound, I might say! -, it's difficult to sleep. First of all, it's hard to get out of the bubble and face the real world. Second, my ears are still buzzing with the wonderful music. And, finally, I slept throughout the entire flight. Deep breath. Again.

On a very sunny day

On my way back, on a very sunny day. Three wonderful days full of music, dancing, singing and very heart-warming moments with friends! My favourite moment was the 2 a.m. red heart balloon volley game - how much fun can that be?!  grin emoticon   grin emoticon   grin emoticon I'll miss you in the next couple of months...but, for now, this warm feeling in my heart will have to last!

Boarding cats and dogs. While raining.

Still dark. Raining cats and dogs. Not enough tea in my body. At least, not enough to force my brain to work. Not just yet. But I'm on my way. And, spite my brain, my heart definitely knows it!

Done

All the work is done. I believe it's time to go home and try to pack quickly and wisely. That way I might be able to sleep somewhere before my flight. The next few days will be full of music, dance and friends. It's soooo gooood to be off for a few days!  smile

A very late night

This is a very late night...but it was such a wonderful dinner and chat with a few of my friends! But, then again, with these ones, it always is!  smile emoticon Maybe keep in mind, next time, that we should have this kind of gathering when we don't have to work the day after.

Ah, how much...!

Ah, how much I love a perfect library: all my books in alphabetical order - and no, they're not just a few! But I'm so happy!  (Yes, I know I am a strange person...!). And the perfect way to do it. Of course.

Just not fair!

Not fair, it's not fair my downstairs neighbours have decided to change their windows on the early morning of the day I'm off work...! Well, if I can't sleep in, I'm going to take a walk or do some shopping. But, first of all, tea!

Two happy things

Flowers.  And the sunny spot where I will be nesting with my book for the next couple of hours.

I'm hoping this will be my afternoon in a few moments...!

Today was a good day

Imagem
Today was a good day. All my work was done by 5 pm...and I'm holding on to the secret wish of keeping it that way for weeks - or months, if I'm really hopeful! - to come. And possibly even earlier than 5 pm... It was a good day because I'm longing for 'me time'. Hanging out with friends, dancing, going to the cinema and to the theatre, reading, crocheting, knitting, taking pictures. There's so much life after work but I can't seem to be at peace - at least completely! - until I got my mind off work. So, today was a good day. And I'm hopeful. For good days to come! And thankful too. For example, for the absolutely great few pages I'll be reading in a few moments, in my bed, without thinking about the piles of work I'll have to deal with tomorrow and that I should've done today or yesterday or last week... Because today was a good day. And I'm happy.
